Dr. Joseph Reid has 30 years experience with the application of computer science, information technology and public health informatics to a broad range of problems encountered in the collection and integration of data in federal surveillance, survey, and research efforts.

Dr. Reid's experience encompasses the academic community as a biophysics researcher and physics professor; the private sector as a management consultant with experience in helping many companies increase productivity; and with local, state and federal public health efforts as a senior computer scientist at CDC.

At CDC Dr. Reid served as the conceptual architect and senior technical manager on many of the largest IT efforts fielded by CDC over the past 20 years including, CDC/IS enterprise administrative support system, the WONDER online database system, the ASTRO specimen management system, the NEDSS reportable disease surveillance system, the SDN secure data network, and the BioSense syndromic surveillance system.

Dr. Reid retired from CDC in 2006 with the position of Senior Advisor and Distinguished Consultant within the Office of the Chief Operating Officer.
