Web Content Administrator
Location: Atlanta, GA
Web Content Administrator opportunity to provide project management/oversight for the development of Web pages and serve as a resource for staff throughout the Division of Adolescent and School Health (DASH) and the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP) involved in Web site development process. Duties include: --Evaluating content of the Web site to ensure that the information contained within is accurate, consistent, and current. This position is also responsible for developing the Web site so that it is easy to use, manage, and expand with the overarching goal being to organize collections of web pages into a cohesive site; --Delegating to and overseeing the work of DASH's Junior Web Developer and is responsible for training that person in the processes and procedures of Web development at NCCDPHP; --Working in conjunction with subject matter experts and specialists contracted to handle particular content areas to meet the information needs of key audiences and establishing levels of accuracy and detail sufficient for scientific credibility; --Responsible for reviewing materials posted to DASH Web sites and assures that Web development adheres to policies/standards and 508 compliance. --Interacts and collaborates with a variety of DASH, NCCDPHP, CoCHP and CDC scientific and technical personnel, as well as other information management contractors and key outside partners to manage projects so they are completed on schedule. --Additional responsibilities include participating in CDC-wide product rollouts (i.e.; Content Management System, Omniture, NetRaker), participates in monthly Internet Workgroup meetings and agency wide workgroups.
Required Skills:- Strong HTML and Web-site development experience. Strong understanding of how Web pages differ across browsers and platforms; understanding of content-related issues such as navigation; understanding of usability issues a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work independently. Good understanding of computer systems and capable of quickly learning new computer skills.
- FrontPage or Dreamweaver experience. Understanding of information architecture concepts, meta data, vocabularies, and workflow. Excellent understanding of technical properties, performance, and limitations of various file formats including graphic files (.gif, .jpg, .png), PDF, etc.
- Excellent communication and writing skills. Very detailed oriented.
- Content management system experience.
- Knowledge of Section 508 Accessibility requirements as they relate to Web site development.
- Intermediary CSS and JavaScript skills.
- BS/BA required, MS/MA desired, [Major: Public Health, Journalism, Communications]
- Years of experience in lieu of degree
