Emergint wins $20.5 million NIH Administrative Support Services Contract

(BETHESDA, MD) - Emergint Technologies, Inc. (Emergint) announced today that it has won the contract to provide administrative support services to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Center for Scientific Review (CSR). CSR receives and processes all NIH and many Public Health Service grant applications and organizes the majority of NIH peer review groups that evaluate NIH grant applications. CSR receives about 80,000 grant applications a year, and its reviews help NIH institutes and centers fund the most promising research. NIH uses the majority of its $28 billion budget to fund about 50,000 grants a year, which support more than 212,000 researchers at universities and other research institutions in the United States and abroad. This contract provides the CSR with vital support for receiving, processing and reviewing grant applications. Emergint estimates the value of the award, which has a one-year base period and four one-year options, to be approximately $20.5 million when all options are exercised.

Under the contract, Emergint and their subcontractor, Federal Working Group (FWG), will provide the necessary employees, resources and technology solutions to assist NIH with processing Research Grant Applications including project control, administrative support to operations of Initial Review Groups (IRG), travel reimbursement and evaluation awards, human resources, committee management, and office support. Additionally Emergint will assist with automating existing processes for more efficient and timely application processing.

“This contract represents a major step forward for both Emergint and the NIH Center for Scientific Review in that we will not only support the existing processes for grants support but will also assist the CSR/NIH in accelerating the review and award process through technology and automation,” said Gil Delgado, president and CEO of Emergint Technologies, Inc. and executive manager for the program.
