Emergint Technologies, Inc. becomes a Microsoft Certified Partner
(LOUISVILLE, KY) - On Wednesday March 11, 2009, Emergint became a Microsoft Certified Partner. As a Certified Partner, Emergint now has access to online training resources and business-related tools offered by Microsoft.
As part of obtaining Microsoft Certified Partner status, Emergint attained the Independent Software Vendor (ISV) Solutions Competency. Emergint submitted DCTS Public Health 1.9.8 to VeriTest, a testing service of Lionbridge Technologies, and they independently conducted the testing. ISV is a business term for companies who specialize in developing software that will run on one or more computer hardware or operating system platforms. Emergint has always provided customers with software that runs on their preferred operating system, including Microsoft; but now those customers who prefer Microsoft can rest assured that our software has passed stringent testing requirements necessary for Microsoft certification.
DCTS allows local Public Health Department professionals and healthcare professionals at a facility to exchange information about various communicable diseases. It provides them with data that is used for retrospective and prospective research, but more importantly it helps them address an outbreak of an infectious disease. DCTS collects healthcare data with epidemiological importance and transforms it into a consistent format so that the data can be used by healthcare professionals. By law, all Public Health departments are required to report information about infectious diseases to the state and in Kentucky the required form is known as the EPID 200. Local Public Health officials enjoy using DCTS because it creates an electronic version of the EPID 200 and automatically fills in a majority of the sections. This feature reduces clerical overhead, saves time and improves the accuracy of information on the form. Submitting reports about nationally notifiable diseases to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is voluntary; however most states send information for all of the quarantinable diseases in addition to other infectious diseases.
