Emergint® wins Information Management Services task order for DLS under the CDC CIMS Information Management Domain

(Atlanta, GA) - Emergint Technologies, Inc. announced a new task order award from the National Center of Environmental Health (NCEH) Division of Laboratory Sciences (DLS) at the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This task order is awarded under the CDC Information Management Services (CIMS) contract vehicle.

Emergint will support DLS with program continuity for the implementation and configuration of STARLIMS v10 that will ultimately replace all legacy laboratory information systems (LIMS). We will configure and customize the system as needed to meet the business and technology requirements of the Division, and ensure continued interoperability with web-based reporting systems. We will support legacy LIMS in current use until full integration of STARLIMS. Once fully implemented, STARLIMS will serve as the integrated repository of laboratory specimens and analytical results for the division.

Emergint will also be supporting the Newborn Screening Quality Assurance Program (NSQAP) website. NSQAP is a voluntary, non-regulatory program to help state health departments and their laboratories maintain and enhance the quality of test results. The program is operated in partnership with the Association of Public Health Laboratories and provides services to domestic newborn screening laboratories, manufacturers of diagnostic products, and laboratories in many countries. NSQAP has been the only comprehensive source of essential quality assurance services for dried-blood spot testing for more than 33 years.

"Emergint has been supporting DLS and the transition and integration of STARLIMS at NCEH for over 3 years. We have a deep understanding of the Center's and the federal government's requirements to collect and track specimens, and provide a complete chain of custody for collected samples to ensure that the results of laboratory analysis are complete and accurate. We are delighted to continue our support of NCEH in this vital function that protects public health," said Gil Delgado, President and CEO of Emergint.

The NCEH DLS collects and processes data to support public health research, prevent disease from exposure to toxic chemicals in the environment, and control health hazards and diseases using research and surveillance. During chemical, bioterrorist, and radiological events, the NCEH lab mobilizes to support CDC and other Federal, State, and local agencies involved in the response efforts, which are dependent on DLS systems to provide time-critical and accurate data. The NCEH labs are among the small group of labs in the world that perform substance/compound testing, requiring highly specialized equipment and expertise.
