Emergint® wins Task Award at CDC's DSAT
(Atlanta, GA) - Emergint Technologies, Inc. announces a task order award for the Division of Select Agents and Toxins (DSAT) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)'s Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response (OPHPR). This task order has been awarded under the CDC Information Management Services (CIMS) contract vehicle, Information Management Domain.
DSAT administers CDC's Select Agent Program and the Etiologic Agent Import Permit Program. These programs regulate the possession, use and transfer of certain biological agents and toxins that potentially pose a severe threat to public health and safety, and the importation of etiological (microorganisms or microbial toxins that cause disease in humans) agents and vectors of human disease. CDC's Select Agent Program oversees entities that possess, use or transfer select agents and toxins that cause disease in humans. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has a parallel program that oversees entities that possess, use or transfer select agents that cause disease in animals and plants. In support of this initiative, the CDC and USDA jointly maintain the National Select Agents Registry (NSAR) Program which requires registration of facilities including government agencies, universities, research institutions, and commercial entities that possess, use or transfer biological agents and toxins.
To support DSAT and the initiatives, programs and systems it administers, Emergint will provide a broad spectrum of IT services. The IT services include information systems life cycle management, project management, and other services to support their Enterprise Architecture and IT System Architecture. Additionally, Emergint will administer DSAT's SharePoint site to provide systems, process documentation, and training.
